Bilinguisme et lien social : Cris, vociférations, injures, comme indices d’un malaise et promesse de discours. Exemple de modalité en milieu carcéral en Martinique

Abstract : The use of a language may seem obvious. For a bilingual speaker, the alternate use of two languages may be deliberate, but it can also be the result of a complex intertwining of unconscious motivations. Thus, a choice is made at the end of a dilemma experienced sometimes without even being formulated. In Martinique, two languages seem to compete, but their differentiated use is not spontaneous. There is a linguistic duality with regard to social representations in a postcolonial context where colonizer and colonized from yesterday, heirs of various fortunes and misfortunes, today embody the emblematic figures of a contentious that complies with our expectations, firmly prefabricated in the imaginary register. The hospital unit devoted to psychiatric and psychological care in prisons has a restricted space within a place of imposed confinement. It is from this narrow place that observations have been drawn to support our analysis. We chose to focus on the primitive illustration of meaning, the cry, which is also the acme of the act of speech, the insult and finally the short forms of screamed utterances (appeals, lamentations, threats, discontent). However, it is necessary to include these specific observations in the social frame that determines them.
