Travail sale et sale boulot, de la résistance à l'émancipation. Les ouvriers du nettoyage en région parisienne

Abstract : This paper deals with the cleaning worker's practices of resistance against domination, exploiting data from participant observations. This activity is examined from two perspectives. Firstly, as an activity defined in a constant relation to defilement, which is regarded as an essential element of the organization of work. Secondly, the " dirty work ", as developed by Hughes, is a devalued activity which is then the object of strategies of delegation. We will consider how, when faced with domination mechanisms based on hierarchies of classes, but also of races and sexes, the workers do not fail to show their ability to resist. On the contrary, they establish strategies in order to exert power over their work. We will then wonder whether or not these practices of resistance generate emancipation.
