Scarifications et politique : destructions et (re)constructions des corps

Abstract : To highlight the link between politics and private self-mutilation in Western societies, the author begins by comparing these self-mutilation with those in performance of bodies' artists and those in traditional societies. Then, based on the uncanny (das Unheimliche) caused by these scars and in an anthropological as well as a psychoanalytic perspective, the author proposes the existence of a common fantasy of self-harm to the origin of these practices.
