Abstract : Reading the collection of articles assembled in 2004 by Steven L. Kaplan et Philippe Minard in La France, malade du corporatisme ? XVIIIe-XXe siècles stays relevant for the history of the historiography on the end of the French guilds. The XIXth and XXth c. ideologies were particularly misleading to understand the deep transformations of French society at the end of the Ancien Régime.
