You are on the home page of the RESIF collection, a subset of the open archive HAL.

This collection contains:

- documents illustrating the life of the French seismologic and geodetic network (Résif) : articles, theses, communications and posters on the progress of the project, installation photos of the stations, network maps, instrument photos, videos...
- documents related to seismic events in metropolitan France and overseas departments: photos of damage caused by earthquakes, images of post-seismic missions, post-seismic reports, etc.

With rare exceptions, the images and other documents in the media library are distributed under a Creative Common "Attribution 4.0 International" license (CC BY 4.0), i.e. their use, transformation or any other use, including commercial use, is free, subject to quotation by the author.

Résif partners are free to deposit documents in this open archive, simply by adding the keyword "RESIF" in the metadata when depositing in HAL, MediHal or TEL. The document will appear in the general archive, but also in this RESIF collection.

The French seismological and geodetic network Résif-Epos is a national facility, included in the roadmap of research infrastructures published by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. The construction of Résif-Epos was launched in 2009 in an effort to develop, modernize, and centralize geophysical observation of the Earth’s interior.


RESIF is part of the European (EPOS - European plate observing system) and global systems of instruments used to image the Earth's interior as a whole and to study many natural phenomena.

Résif-Epos uses both permanent and mobile instrument networks for continuous seismological, geodetic and gravimetric measurements. The collected data reveal both the structure and dynamics of our planet. These data also contribute to the sustainable management of natural resources and to natural geohazard mitigation.

RESIF is a consortium of French research bodies and academic establishments. Coordinated by the CNRS-INSU, this network relies on the Observatoires des Sciences de l’Univers which are present throughout the whole of France and interact with universities and locale authorities.
