Du réel de l'émotion à l'émotion réalisée dans la création musicale contemporaine

Abstract : Emotion in the human sciences remains a discreet and discredited object through the spreading of the intimate at the expense of reason. Yet, the emotional field manifests itself in the anthropological relationship of man (composer) to musical creation. Considering the image of contemporary art as an "emotional turning-point", identified by philosophical criticism, as a socio-historical rupture suggests that emotions only intervene in a contingent, even parasitic way, in the creative process. However, a whole field of scientific research in psychology has inspired more recent work in information and communication sciences and didactic musicology; reasons why we propose an approach to the anthropology of emotion-based musical creation processes based on the methodological tools of these social sciences. Our research studies the contents of the notices written by composers on the occasion of the publication. These remarks are confronted with verbatims about their writing task (notice and composition) collected by a researcher. She wishes to identify a regime for the appearance of emotions in both notices and interviews, and their possible inclusion in the composition. However, both verbal and musical orders show that emotion is impacted by the mesogenetic dimension linked to contingency (compositional means). The emotion, which is at the origin of the compositional project, passes through the filter of successive choices that musical and discursive analysis allows to grasp. Our corpus brings together a production of four composers (C. Groult, G. Finzi, S. Yoshida, S. Reich). We detail two dynamic processes of musical creation. One at the beginning, where emotions inspire the project, the other at the end, where they are "composed". Our study makes it possible to capture the reality of the composer's own original sound image in response to the constraints encountered in the compositional exercise.
